Difference between Windows 7 and Windows 8

Windows 8 has gone a big hit in the OS market. But still, there are zillions of people are not willing to migrate from Windows 7. When compared with Windows 7, Windows 8 is altogether different! So what are the major differences between Windows 7 and Windows 8?

Difference Between Windows 7 and Windows 8

No start button: Till now all versions of the Windows operating system including Windows 7 had one thing in common. And that was the famous ‘START’ button. This conventional feature had almost become an identity of the Windows operating system. Anyhow, Windows 8, the latest version of windows is a bit more creative. It did away with the start button and introduced the Metro UI in its place. In case you are accustomed to the old setup and find the start button a comfortable option, no problem. Windows 8 provides users with an option to change back to the old windows format. The Metro UI is an awesome interface for tablet PC’s, rather the most comfortable option with them. Anyhow people are unable to digest this huge change with usual PC’s. Personally, I think that this is because Windows 8 is new and this problem will settle out with time as people start working with it.

Simpler Task Manager: Well what if your computer hangs because of some heavy cache consuming software. The first thing that you will do is press alt+ctrl+del. The task manager will open, and then you can check the list of running processes and delete the ones which are unnecessary. Anyhow this process is quite slow and irritating in Windows 7. The case is absolutely different with Windows 8. Its task manager is butter smooth. All you need to do to end a process is a single click. And if you want to check the details of the ongoing processes, simply click on the ‘more details’ option. It will show you a well-organized list of the processes along with their CPU usage details. So you can end all those processes which are pulling more of your processors capacity.

Improvements to Copy, Move, Rename and Delete: Till now, no matter whatsoever version of Windows you may have used, four processes must have definitely irritated you the most. And these four processes are copying, moving, renaming and deleting. Now, in case of windows 7 if you add multiple files for these operations you can see the messy screens and full taskbar and slowness of your pc but in case of windows 8 they offered a pause feature in which you can pause the file which is not so important and seed the speed to other files for faster operations.

New Windows Explorer: Now this a unique step taken by them to provide windows explorer with which looks like the Microsoft office interface and which is permanent and this depends on the user if they love it or hate it. The good point is that you have all the commands and simple function directly available so that you can perform better and fast. It contains the feature of copying the file from one folder to other, and there are some locations available where you can go anytime from any Window.

These are the main features which make it a powerful window as compare to window 7, and there are many updates stored which can change the mind of a person to go with Windows 8. Other features offered by Windows 8 is

  • Fast start-up mode: which means unlike window 7 it will provide you with faster restarting with a fresh user session.
  • User-friendly and you can adjust the screen size according to your need

A strong combination of design for the users and a high-speed processor who like to work faster. The new look gives a nice environment to work in, and this is much better as compared to the windows 7. One can go with this window for a better level of experience.
