Adobe Photoshop is the most important and first skill that you need to master if you want to be a web designer. In this way, you can design in a much better way than directly coding a web page in HTML.

Next comes the HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and its latest version HTML5. It is important because all the web pages are written in this language only. Though you can use Dreamweaver and Notepad++ to write the web pages, this is considered to be a fundamental skill that you need to learn.

Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) is used to make the web page look better. And thus it is imperative that you have a thorough knowledge of CSS.

  1. Javascript and Ajax

Because Javascript is an important interactive element of a website, a web developer should be well versed in Javascript before any other language. The most important thing to learn here is how it interacts with HTML and CSS to create the three layers of web design. Ajax is used to make a separate part of the web page and when the request is sent to that part then instead of loading the full page only that section will be loaded.
