The haunted places across the globe, like the old cemeteries, ancient forts, and abandoned houses and so on, have this weird, creepy feeling. With all these most haunted places on earth is associated with the tragic accidents and paranormal activities and ghostly sightings. Though I am really scared of dark and scary things, it’s always been a curiosity to know more about these things. Also, I know many people who enjoy scary movies and always up to challenge these sorts of things. Well, here we have brought you a list of the most horrifying places of all time in the world and dare the brave hearts to go to these places.
Myrtles Plantation, USA

There is a rumor that this Myrtles Plantation in the USA, one of the most haunted places in America, is built on the site of an ancient Indian burial ground. There are lots of stories related to this site, some of which are that the ghost of a slave wearing green turban has been sighted by many. Also, there is reportedly a haunted mirror that is said to be holding the ghosts of a lady Sara Woodruff and her children who used to live in the house previously. One more story is that the spirit of William Winter, who was reportedly shot on the site, has been sighted crawling up the stairs writhing with the pain of the gunshot wound and the disappearing at once on the steps. Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan, India
The Bhangarh Fort is undoubtedly the most haunted place in India. The fort stands amidst the ruins of the ghostly village of the same name. There used to be people living in the village in the 17th century. Then some unfortunate incidents happened that led to the doom of the place. There are two stories related to the doom of the fort. One is, there was a holy man, named Bala Nath who used to live on that mountain. When the king Madho Singh decided to build a fort there, he asked for the permission from the baba. Bala Nath put forward a condition that the shadow of the fort should never fall upon his house. But the successor of Madho Singh fortified the fort, and the shadow fall on his house, and he cursed the entire town.
Another story is related to the Princess of Bhangarh, Ratnavati and a wizard who fell in love with the Princess. He tried to bewitch perfume that she was supposed to buy and use. The princess found out about it and foiled his spell, and as a consequence, the wizard died. But before dying, he placed a curse upon the entire village that no soul would ever be able to live in peace there. And the whole village including the fort has been haunted since.
Today, it is said that anyone who enters the city at night never comes out again. You can also see a board, put up by the Archaeological Survey of India, cautions the visitors not to venture within the premises of the fort during the dark hours.
Island Of Dolls, Mexico

Considered as one of the most haunted locations in the world, The Island of Dolls has different chilling and horrifying stories. It is said that a girl died on the island after drowning in the Mexican canal. After long, when Julian Barrera moved to this island, he reported being haunted by the ghost of the girl. To entertain her spirit, he hung several dolls across the island. Also, after a while, Julian told his nephew that the girl wanted him to play with her after his death. And as a series of the incidents, his dead body was later found in the canal at the same spot as that of the girl. The visitors to the island have said that they feel that the eyes of the dolls follow them. Also, there are stories of people hearing voices of whispers and laughing.
Paris Catacombs, France
It was back in the 17th century that the government of Paris was looking for a solution to dump the piles of the dead bodies as the graveyards around the city were overflowing with the deads and had no place for any more of them. So they came up with the idea to place the bones underground. Though the catacombs were not meant to house human remains at that time, later Louis-Etienne Hericart de Thury saw it as an opportunity and arrange the remains in artistic arrangements in the tunnels to make it a work of art. And only the appearance of these spider-webbing tunnels beneath the city is enough to haunt your dreams for days or maybe weeks (if you are like me ;-)). But it is not just the appearance but the reports of people witnessing ghost, and disappearing altogether within these tunnels has brought it in the top 10 list of the most haunted places in the world. It is said that the spirits of the dead people haunt the catacombs and have even been caught on tape.

Another famous haunted site in France is the beautiful Chateau de Brissac castle that was built in the 11th century. It is said that the castle witnessed a double murder in the 14th century. A nobleman, who lived in the castle, murdered his wife and her lover. Since then the rumors have it that the ghost of the Lady wanders through the castle. People even have reported seeing a woman in a green dress. Also, it has been said that the lady ghost’s face has holes in place of her nose and eyes. Also, the sound of her moans said to be heard throughout the château in the early hours of the morning.
Akershus Castle, Norway

Many people who have visited the Akershus Castle claim it to be the scariest place on the earth. This fortress that was later converted into prison was built in the 1290s. It has also been the site of Nazi execution. The castle is said to be hunted by a lady, and a dog and the rumors also said that anyone who sees the ghost of the lady is doomed to die soon in the future. We don’t know how much truth is there in the stories, but it definitely gave us a chill.
Greyfriars Kirkyard, Scotland

The Greyfriars Kirkyard is a popular cemetery in Edinburgh as one of the haunted places in the world. There is a popular tale related to the site that a homeless man once broke into Sir George Mackenzie’s burial chamber, and since then there are many paranormal activities that have been reported in the area. Around 200 people had left the cemetery as some escaped with many bruises and some were reported to disappear.

Edinburgh Castle, Scotland
This famous heritage castle was once only famous for its sightseeing as it is known to sit on the grounds that date back to the Iron Age. But as some people reported seeing a ghostly dog, a headless drummer, and a phantom piper in the castle, the rumors took wings and reached everywhere. Then in 2001, a 10-day scientific survey of the castle was done, and several volunteers and scientists reported ghost sightings during the survey. Since then the castle becomes famous as one of the haunted places in the world.

The Highgate cemetery was built in 1839, in North London. It is said to be the final resting place of more than 1,70,000 people and also has been the site of many supernatural activities. Not only this, there are rumors that a vampire also lives in the Highgate having hypnotic red eyes and long black coat. There is also believes that the vampire causes a sudden drop in temperature, time freeze, and more around the area. The claims were believed to be truth when a poorly burnt body of a woman was found beheaded.
Monte Cristo Homestead, Australia

Monte Cristo Homestead is a popular haunted place in the New South Wales of Australia. There are haunted stories related to the homestead about Mrs. Crawley. She was the owner of the house and after her husband died, she never came out of the house for 23 years. And even after her death, it is believed that her spirit is still living in the house. Many people have claimed to witness her ghost in the window, hear some strange voices, sparkling lights, and the floating ghost in the corridor. Also, reports of accidents and murders in the mansion have strengthened the belief.
